| Here are just a few of the great ideas we have received from members of the public who want the pool to stay open:- |
| Convert the Cafe into a Restaurant that is open all year round to increase the income. |
| Convert the pool into an ice skating rink in the winter. |
| Open the pool until late evening in the summer. |
| Use solar panels to heat the pool and reduce running costs. |
| Put extra facilities on the site so it can be used all year round. |
| Install a roll back roof and use the pool all winter as well. |
Encourage the use of pool by private companies- My fitness club often has a scuba diving company offering trial dives in it's indoor pool |
Canoeing lessons |
Run some swimming lessons- Standard of kids swimming is very low . Portishead is a water based area so it is imperative that children can swim, yet many 8 year olds at my daughters school cannot swim properly. |
Separate pool with a 'boom' -Similar to Bristol University pool. Expensive but gives the option of a small shallow pool suitable for young children - and a larger pool . Boom can be moved to give full pool length. |
Open later in the evenings. Shutting the pool at 6pm is crazy! many people would enjoy an evening swim on a warm evening after battling the traffic back from Bristol. Doesn't have to be open every evening. |
