Hopefully you are here because you want to Keep Portishead's Open Air Pool OPEN. You probably want to know what is going on and if there is anything that can be done to stop the closure.

You will be pleased to hear that there is no commercial reason why the pool could not open again next year. The only thing stopping the pool from opening is North Somerset Council, they believe that the cost of opening the pool is just too high. Year on year they have refused to invest in anything that would have reduced the running costs.

I, like many other people in Portishead believe, that the pool is an asset to the community. I propose to have the pool run by a trust formed by the people of Portishead. It is my firm belief that a Community Trust could refurbish the pool and extend it's opening hours making it commercially viable in a very short space of time.
